Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung receives Japanese Minister of Environment

(Construction News) - On January 10, Deputy Minister of Construction Le Quang Hung had worked with the delegation of Japanese Ministry of Environment, led by Deputy Minister Takaaki Katsumata, on the issue of cooperation in waste treatment and converting waste into energy.

Deputy Minister Takaaki Katsumata said that Japan has gained many important achievements in collecting, processing and converting waste into energy, contributing positively to the work of protecting the environment of the country. In order to promote cooperation between the two sides, Deputy Minister Takaaki Katsumata proposed the Ministry of Construction to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to cooperate with the Ministry of Environment of Japan.


Japanese delegation of Minister of Environment visited and worked in Vietnam

In Vietnam, the Ministry of Construction is a government organization which responsible for managing the domestic and urban solid waste disposal. With the promulgated policies and mechanisms, the Government wishes that the rate of solid waste collected and treated for electricity generation will reach 30% by 2020, reaching 70% in 2030 and almost all solid waste in Vietnam will be burned to generate electricity by 2050.

It is expected that the Ministry of Construction of Vietnam and the Ministry of Environment of Japan will quickly conduct discussions to develop a Draft Memorandum of Cooperation and specific action programs for submission to their leaders for review and approval.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quang Hung and Deputy Minister Takaaki Katsumata exchanged commemorative gifts with the flavor of the two countries.
